Matariki

From a whanau lunch in 2009

The Matariki constellation rises above the horizon in the north-east tomorrow marking a traditional time of celebration for Maori. Iwi calculate the new year differently. I think it’s just a great month long excuse to have a bit of kai and visit with friends. Last time I tried to watch for the constellation it was too cloudy to see anything. Cross your fingers for tomorrow!
